The first rumors about the 2024 Venice Film Festival are starting to circulate. Here are some stars we might see on the red carpet in September for the new film by Oscar-winning director Ron Howard.

The film, which could premiere at the festival, may be bringing big names to the lagoon such as Sydney Sweeney, Ana de Armas, Vanessa Kirby, Jude Law, and Daniel Brühl.

Sydney Sweeney, the youngest of the group, is known for the success of the rom-com Anyone But You, the flop of Madame Web, and the current horror film Immaculate, in which she plays a nun. Ana de Armas, on the other hand, is already known for her roles in Knives Out, No Time to Die, and Blonde. She will soon return to the big screen with Keanu Reeves for the John Wick spin-off Ballerina.

Vanessa Kirby's last work was Napoleon, and a few years ago, she received an Academy Award nomination for her performance in Pieces of a Woman. Jude Law is known for his roles in rom-coms and for being the villain in Captain Marvel. Finally, there's Daniel Brühl, who will not be working with the director for the first time, having previously collaborated on Rush. He is also known for roles in Inglourious Basterds and as Baron Zemo in the Marvel Universe.

Initially, Deadline reported that the title would be Origin of Species and that actress Daisy Edgar-Jones had left the cast due to a scheduling conflict with the upcoming Twisters (by Lee Isaac Chung).

The film has been described as a "survival thriller" and is based on two different versions of a true story. The story revolves around a group of characters who leave civilization for the Galapagos, all in search of the answer to that ever-pressing question that plagues us all: what is the meaning of life?
