Arcane took the world by storm in 2021, holding a rare 100% on Rotten Tomatoes and a 9/10 on one of the most well-known online databases for all kinds of media related content, IMDb. The highly rated adult-animated steampunk-action series based on the multiplayer battle game, League of Legends, is coming back with a Season 2 on Netflix in November of this year!
Season 1 had left Vi and Jinx as completely changed individuals, encountering many vicious battles, making them victims of constant animosity and distrust, having experienced betrayals and new relationships, only to leave avid viewers on an excruciating cliffhanger at the very end– interestingly enough, the audience got Jinxed instead!
The final chapter, or not?
Produced by French-animation studio Fortiche, Arcane Season 2 will be the final chapter of the extensive story between the two League of Legends champions Vi and Jinx as they further immerse themselves within the conflict between the elite and privileged in Piltover and the poverty-stricken, oppressed undercity of Zaun. With Fortiche’s unique art style that combines 2D and 3D animation work as seen in the first season, deep and complex lore will be conveyed with stunning visuals and emotion-evoking narratives that may lead to tears of sheer joy or dread as the lore continues to unravel. But, who knows what Riot Games is up to?
Despite it being a final season, co-creator Christian Linke teased that there is more to come within the League of Legends lore. “From the very beginning, since we started working on this project, we had a very specific ending in mind, which means the story of Arcane wraps up with this second season. But Arcane is just the first of many stories that we want to tell in Runeterra.”
What do we know so far?
The first initial teaser didn’t seem to reveal much besides Jinx walking menacingly with her impressive shark bazooka towards an empty red abyss with looming vocalisations in the background, although many official clips and teasers have been later released that show a bit more action– one revealing the eccentric furry scientist, Heimerdinger, pursuing a stealth mission with time manipulator Ekko. Other clips showcase small snippets of scenes from the episodes that we can expect to be released, hinting at the possibilities the lore can lead to. We can’t decipher too much from these little teaser clips with the current knowledge we have from season 1 of Arcane, but all we do know is that it’ll be another remarkable season from the Netflix animated series.
Get your champions ready and don’t Jinx yourself with Arcane’s upcoming season 2– be prepared for a dynamic, action-filled, and emotional journey this November!
