Cannes film Festival is back, what happened during week one!

One highlight has always been fashion, glitter and glamour from all celebrities. This first week has been no different with one of the most glamourous red carpets in the world (only competing with the Oscars and the Met Gala).

Tom Cruise came back for the first time in 30 years with his movie Top Gun: Maverick while also receiving the Palme d’Or for his services within film.

Forest Whitaker received a Palme d’honneur for both his career but mostly for his commitment through his foundation Whitaker Peace & Development Initiative.

Protests against violence towards women at both the premiere of a movie about the killing of sexworkers but also at the premiere of Holy Spider. This while also throwing smoke grenades but also a long banner of 129 women being killed in France since Cannes was last held.

Since this is being written from Sweden we also want to highlight 2 parts, Noomi Rapace’s role in the film jury picking the best movies of the festival.

We also want to highlight that there are three contenders for Palme d’Or from Sweden but that also have different roots, Ruben Ostlund for Triangle of Sadness, Ali Abbasi with Holy Spider and Tarik Saleh with Boy From Heaven.

These are just some of the news from this year’s Cannes Film Festival.

More news will arrive during the week.
