Channing Tatum, the American actor performing in She’s the Man, showed to be a soccer pro player in the movie. However, in “Entertainment Tonight‘s” newest edition of “Spilling the E-Tea,” Tatum revealed that his soccer skills were not as impressive as in the movie.
The 21 Jump Street star affirmed: “”It definitely wasn’t about soccer, but I played soccer in [She’s the Man], and I definitely led on a little bit more that I could play soccer [better] than I actually could. But I pulled it off,” he said. “I was like, ‘Just cut away when I fuck up.’””
For those who do not know it, She’s the Man is a comedy and sport movie inspired by William Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night. The main character is Amanda Bynes, portraying Viola, who pretends to be her twin brother, James Kirk’s Sebastian for the sake of playing in the boy’s team after the girl’s team at her school got eliminated.
But which role does Tatum play in this movie? Not by a fluke, Channing Tatum is the star player on the boy’s team, Duke Orsino, but also the guy Viola falls in love with.
Fun fact: Amanda Bynes struggled with the producers to include Tatum in the cast as she believed in his potential from the very early beginning and every girl would have loved him, yet he was not famous enough. Furthermore, in a conversation with Paper magazine in 2018 https://www.papermag.com/amanda-bynes-break-the-internet#rebelltitem40, she declared “[The producers] were like, ‘He’s so much older than all of you!’ And I was like, ‘It doesn’t matter! Trust me!'”
