Ever since it was revealed last month that Christopher Nolan is planning a new film at Universal for Summer 2026, the cast list — along with our excitement for the film — has been steadily growing. With the most recent addition to the lineup for Nolan's upcoming project, things have intensified and taken an exciting turn. Indeed, according to Deadline's report, Mad Max: Fury Road and Atomic Blonde star — and renowned Hollywood icon — Charlize Theron has just joined for her first collaboration with the Oppenheimer Oscar-winning director.
With Theron joining the cast, we now have a remarkable seven names set to steer Nolan's upcoming 13th feature. Among the other stars are previous Nolan collaborators Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, and Robert Pattinson, along with new additions to the British auteur's ensemble: Tom Holland, Zendaya, and Lupita Nyong'o. The roles they'll play in the film, which Nolan has personally written, remain a mystery — as do the film itself and its storyline.
Rumors persist about period vampire narratives (fueled by the casting of Twilight's Edward Cullen and DC's Batman, Pattinson), Blue Thunder inspired helicopter adventures, and Insomnia 2: Can't Get No Sleep (we might have invented that last one), but the official stance is that anything you've heard or read is speculative at best, and outright falsehood at worst. So, essentially, your guess is as good as ours — and our guess has mostly been a new Dracula because we think it'd be pretty cool, honestly.
In the absence of a plot, a title, a genre, or even a single character name, what we do know is that filming will commence in early 2025, with the crucial IMAX release date set for 17 July, 2026. And if the impressive array of stars already gathered didn't already have us excited beyond measure about Nolan's next blockbuster, then the inclusion of the undeniably talented and Oscar-winning Theron certainly does. Bring. It. On!
