For the second week in a row, "Venom: The Last Dance" maintained its position as the top-grossing film in mainland China, surpassing the newly released thriller "Cesium Fallout," starring Andy Lau.
According to data from Artisan Gateway, "Venom: The Last Dance" raked in RMB104 million ($14.6 million) over the weekend, marking a decrease of over 50% from its opening weekend. Nevertheless, the film has now accumulated $70.8 million in revenue after being in theaters for 12 days, a pace comparable to that of "Alien: Romulus" in China, potentially placing "Venom" among the top three Hollywood films in China this year.
Debuting in second place, "Cesium Fallout" earned $9.8 million during its opening weekend. Produced by Hong Kong's Edko Films and featuring Andy Lau and Karen Mok, the film, previously known as "Burning City" and "Fallout," is promoted as China's first movie on a nuclear radiation disaster. Directed by Anthony Pun, the film's China release is managed by Alibaba Pictures.
