Chip and Dale, the iconic chipmunk duo made famous through the cartoons by the Walt Disney Company, are coming back to fight crime and save the day in the original movie ”Chip ’n Dale: Rescue Rangers” premiering on Disney+, the streaming service has just announced.
The hybrid live-action/CG animated action-comedy stars John Mulaney (”Saturday Night Live”) as Chip, Andy Samberg (”Palm Springs”) as Dale, as well as Seth Rogen (”Pam and Tommy”), J.K. Simmons (”Being the Ricardos”) and Tress MacNeille (The Simpsons) among others.
”Chip n’ Dale: Rescue Rangers” comes more than 30 years after the animated television series of the same name, in which the two chipmunks run a detective agency solving crimes and fighting villains. In the new movie set to premiere on Disney+, Chip and Dale are living amongst cartoons and humans in modern-day Los Angeles. However, their lives have changed. The friendship between Chip (voiced by Mulaney) and Dale (voiced by Samberg) has broken down. Chip works as an insurance salesman, while Dale has had CGI surgery and works the convention circuit, yearning for the old days. The pair are unexpectedly brought together again when a former castmate mysteriously disappears. Chip and Dale must repair their broken friendship and work together as Rescue Rangers one more time to save their missing friend.
