Everything we know about the new show “The Idol” with The Weeknd and Lily-Rose Depp.

It is not enough for the singer Abel Tesfaye aka The Weeknd to be a superstar of world pop music, now he is interested in TV. The hitmaker is starring in, co-writing, and executive producing HBO's “The Idol”, a music industry drama he's created with Reza Fahim and Sam Levinson. The last one made the whole world love “Euphoria”. The trio says that the idea comes from their “sick and twisted minds”.

It is promised to be “the sleaziest love story in all of Hollywood about a female pop singer who starts a romance with an enigmatic L.A. club owner who is the leader of a secret cult. Lily-Rose Depp will star. But be prepared to see lots of superstars on the screen. Singer and actor Troye Sivan appeared in the trailer, in a yet-undisclosed role. Jennie of the K-pop group BLACKPINK makes an appearance too. Rumor has it that even Britney Spears may appear in one episode. At least according to media reports, she has met with producers.

The exact date of the release of the show has not been announced yet, HBO just says it's “coming soon.”
