Bring on the synthesizers– Eddie Murphy has returned as Axel Foley. It´s been almost three decades since the quick-witted Detroit made an appearance, but he is now tackling a new investigation. In "Beverly Hills Cop F," Axel finds himself back on duty in Beverly Hills, surrounded by families faces and some new ones, possibly even including a family member.
Producer Jerry Bruckheimer (known for "Top Gun: Maverick" and "The Rock") shared with Tudum, Eddie is an extraordinary talent. He´s adept at both drama and comedy - he really can do it all. Axel Foley has not changed; he is still the street-smart cop we know, albeit a bitwiser with age. Yet, he retains that characteristic sparkle in his eye.
What is Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F about?
Detective Axel Foley ( played by Murphy) returns to patrol Beverly Hills. hen his daughter Jane ( Taylour Paige) becomes a target, she teams up with Foley, a fresh partner (Joseph Gordon Levitt), and long-time friends Billy Rosewood (Judge Reinhold) and Taggart (John Ashton) to dive deep into a conspiracy.
Axel has revisited Beverly Hills several times since his initial adventure in 1984, noticing both personal changes and those in the surroundings. The difference between Detroit and Los Angeles, particularly Beverly Hills, is stary says Bruckheimer. Yet, Axel marvels at the sights along Rodeo Drive just as he used to.
Director Mark Molloy reflects on the experience, travelling from Detroit to Beverly Hills during our location scouting highlighted the cultural contrast that initially made Axel stand out in the eighties. These locations remain perhaps the most contrasting in America, keeping the ´fish out water´ theme as relevant as ever.

Murphy is back as titular Axel Foley, while Reinhold and Ashton return as his Beverly Hills Police Department colleagues Billy Rosewood and John Taggart. Back in Detroit, Reiser reprises his roles as Jeffrey Friedman and of course, it would not be Beverly Hills Cop without an appearance from Pinchot´s Serge.
As for new partners, Paige steps into the role of Axel Foley´s daughter, Jane. "Casting Axel Foley´s daughter was no small task," Molloy comments. "Taylour has the same twinkle in her eye, the same vibrant energy that Axel possesses, along with the ability to match Axel step for step, which is quite challenging."
Moreover, the Beverly Hills Police Department welcomes some fresh characters: Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Detective Abbott and Kevin Bacon as Captain Cade Grant. It is likely that Axel will manage to get along with all of them without any issues.
