The American fantasy comic movie “Freaky Friday” is almost ready to be back in theaters, planning 2025 as the release date for the sequel.
Filming from today in Los Angeles, Lohan and Curtis will both have the same previous roles, Anna and Tess Coleman respectively. While part of the 2003 cast will appear again in the sequel (Mark Harmon, Christina Vidal Mitchell, Haley Hudson, and Chad Michael Murray), there are many newcomers: Julia Butters, Sophia Hammons, Manny Jacinto and Maitreyi Ramakrishnan. The director of the sequel will be Nisha Garanra, famous for having also directed episodes of “Hulu’s Welcome to Chippendales.”
The original film was inspired by Mary Rodgers’ 1972 novel and achieved $160 million globally with $110 million coming from the domestic box office.
But what is Freaky Friday 2 about?
NO spoilers! We can only know that the movie will revolve around Lohan and Curtis switching bodies with two teenage girls. Lohan is now having a daughter of her own, who is upset for her mother’s upcoming marriage with the British restaurateur Eric David, and a soon-to-be stepdaughter.
