Updated: Aug 19

Fans who grew up watching Miranda Cosgrove navigate the halls of iCarly can now see her navigate the aisle in Netflix's new romantic comedy, "Mother of the Bride."

The film, which premiered on May 9th, 2024, has already garnered a loyal following for its heartwarming story and comedic twists.

Cosgrove takes on the role of Emma, a recent college graduate who returns home to Los Angeles with a surprising announcement: she's getting married! The catch? Her fiancé, RJ (played by Sean Teale), is the son of her mother Lana's (Brooke Shields) college sweetheart, a man who left a lasting mark on Lana's heart. The news throws Lana's world into a whirlwind of emotions, forcing her to confront past hurts while embracing the joy of her daughter's future.

"Mother of the Bride" reunites Cosgrove with actress Rachael Harris, who played her eccentric vice-principal on iCarly. The film also boasts a star-packed cast that includes Chad Michael Murray and Benjamin Bratt, adding depth and humour to the family dynamic.

Early reviews for the film have been positive, praising the light-hearted humour and the endearing chemistry between Cosgrove and Shields. Critics have also commended the film's ability to explore themes of family, forgiveness, and the sophistication of love, all wrapped in a captivating rom-com package.

"It was such a fun movie to make"

Cosgrove said in a recent interview on YouTube with Manny the Movie Guy.

"I got to work with some incredible actors, and I think audiences will really connect with the characters and their journeys."

Whether you're a longtime fan of Cosgrove or simply looking for a heartwarming and humorous escape, "Mother of the Bride" is sure to delight. So, grab some popcorn, settle in for some wedding bells and laughter, and see Miranda Cosgrove take on a whole new aspect of family drama.
