Inside Out 2, the sequel to the 2015 animation, has been recently released, yet everyone has already started talking about it. The movie, going through the emotions of an 11-year-old girl, opened worldwide on Friday, reaching $155m and lots of sold-out theaters.

While Inside Out describes the emotion of Riley, who has left her Midwest life to move to San Francisco, the sequel shares Riley’s emotions and struggles as she approaches puberty. Four new emotions take place in Riley’s mind: Anxiety, Envy, Ennui, and Embarrassment.

Inside Out 2 scored the second biggest opening in Pixar history, behind the 2018 Incredibles sequel. It is not only the highest-performing movie of the year, but it also achieved such great results that were not recorded from last year’s Barbie movies: over $100m on its opening weekend.

The sequel, however, has proved to be successful both domestically and internationally, especially in Latin America, Mexico, and South Korea. With a global total equal to $295m, and thus covering the original $200 budget and the marketing expenses, Mann’s movie has an A rating on CinemaScore and 91% Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
