”The Independent” is a political feature starring Brian Cox and Jodie Turner-Smith. Now have Cena and Bates been added to the cast too.
The feature comes from Emmy-nominated director Amy Rice (HBO’s By The People: The Election of Barack Obama, upcoming doc Broadway Rising, working from a top ranked Black List script penned by Evan Parter, currently writing the upcoming Amazon Studios original Untitled John Dean Feature, set to star Chris Pine.
The film is set in the final weeks of the most polarizing presidential election in history. ”The Independent '' follows a young journalist (Turner-Smith), who partners with her idol (Cox) to take part in a conspiracy that places the fate of the election, and the country, in their hands.
Brian O’Shea said that they are excited to partner with Kathy Bates and John Cena on ”The Independent''. He said that Kathy’s exceptional acting skills paired withs Cena’s global appeal and ability to transform on-screen, makes them incredible additions to this film. They couldn't be happier they ’ve signed on.
