Just a few weeks after the Oscar awards, Lanthimos is back at work. His new film Kind of Kindness, shot in New Orleans at the end of 2022, is now in the editing phase.
It has been confirmed that the film will be released in theaters this June and this could be confirmation that the film will premiere at the Cannes Film Festival.
Emma Stone, now a favourite of the Greek director, is confirmed in the cast, but in addition to her there will also be Margaret Qualley, Willem Dafoe, Joe Alwyn (like Stone, the latter two also return to work with the director following Poor Things) Jesse Plemons, Hong Chau and Hunter Schafer.
Efthimis Filippou has also already been a colleague of Lanthimos, and in fact the screenplay was co-written together, after having already collaborated in the past on The Lobster, The Killing of a Sacred Deer and Dogtooth.
In the first teaser trailer of just a few dozen seconds, we already have a first shot of the characters and the official synopsis reveals that Kinds of Kindness is a fairy tale in three acts: it follows a man who tries to take control of his life; a policeman whose wife, after disappearing at sea and also returning, seems like a different person; and finally a woman determined to find a specific person with a special ability, destined to become a spiritual leader.
