According to Variety, Demi Moore’s The Substance saw a significant rise in the South Korean box office over the weekend of January 17-19, climbing to fourth place with a notable 72% increase in revenue. The film, which earned Moore a Golden Globe for her performance, grossed KRW 307.1 million from 31,302 admissions, securing a 5.7% share of the market. Since its December release, The Substance has accumulated a total of $1.7 million, reflecting growing audience interest.
Topping the charts, Harbin continued its dominance, holding the number one spot. The historical drama, which follows Korean independence fighters plotting an assassination in 1909, brought in $1.2 million over the weekend, capturing 32.7% of the market share. With 182,107 admissions, the film's total earnings now stand at $29.6 million, further cementing its place as a major box office success.
Meanwhile, The Firefighters retained the second position, generating $398,900 over the weekend and taking a 10.7% share of the market. The film, which focuses on the lives of first responders, has now grossed $24.7 million. In third place, Pororo the Movie: Great Adventure Under the Sea earned $190,490 from 31,686 admissions, drawing in family audiences and continuing its steady box office performance.
