A steady flow of exciting news have been released at this years Star Wars celebration in California. A few days ago, we were given a first look at ”Star Wars: Andor”, which premieres on August 31. The release date for the third season of ”The Mandalorian” is now confirmed as February 2023. For longtime fans of the franchise, however, the most exciting news to come out from Star Wars Celebration might be related to a certain fan-favorite actor returning to the franchise.
And it is exciting news indeed. A new series set in the Star Wars universe called Tales of the Jedi is set to be released later this year, and it has now been confirmed that it will feature Liam Neeson reprising his role as Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn, who was first seen in The Phantom Menace (1999) - the first of George Lucas’ Star Wars prequels. Tales of the Jedi is a six-episode animated series, following different jedi from the prequel era, including Ashoka Tano, Qui-Gon Jinn, as well as Count Dooku before his fall to the dark side.
There have been rumors of Liam Neeson returning to the Star Wars franchise for years. However, in April of this year, Neeson commented on a possible return to the franchise. When asked about it, Neeson commented: ”If it was a film. Yeah, I’m a bit of a snob when it comes to TV, I must admit. I just like the big screen”. It seems the actor has had a change of heart. Or perhaps Neeson was just trying to keep this a secret for a little while longer?
Regardless, Neeson finally returning to Star Wars definitely is exciting news! ”Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi” premieres on Disney+ in the fall.
