‘Badlands’ is the new title for the newest release in the Predator franchise.
The film is set to follow a female protagonist in the future.
Director Dan Trachtenberg, is set to direct the movie after directing the prequel to Predator, Prey, which released in 2022.
Details of the plot are unknown and being kept secret but like Prey, it will feature a female lead.
With the success of prey, 20th century studios are now planning to release a whole host of Predator spin offs, with some being sequels like ‘Badlands’ and prequels like ‘Prey’.
The hit 1987 movie that starred Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jesse Ventura and the late Carl Weathers.
They were all commandos being followed in a jungle by a fearsome alien.
John McTiernan directed the film, which helped cement Schwarzenegger’s star power.
After Predator, three more sequels followed 1990s’ Predator 2. 2010’s Predators, and 2018’s The Predator, with Prey being a prequel.
The franchise has also launched popular comics (Marvel Comics last year put out Predator vs Wolverine) and video games.
