The upcoming movie of director Guillermo del Toro is an intense noir based on 1946's novel of the same name by William Lindsay Gresham.
The story of “Nightmare Alley” centers around a man named Stanton Carlisle (played by Bradley Cooper) who attempts to gain fame and fortune through manipulations and frauds. Fatal will be the meeting with psychiatrist Dr. Lilith Ritter (played by Cate Blanchett), who manages to seduce Stanton and lure him into actions even more dangerous.
Alongside Cooper and Blanchett, the cast is formed by Rooney Mara, Toni Collette, and David Strathairn.
Given del Toro's ability of creating unique storytellings, the movie promises to be a dark period movie with a focus on the darker sides of humanity.
