Paul Rudd: movies you should watch if you like the actor

One of the most talked about films of the moment is certainly Ghost Buster: Frozen Empire, which is having a good response in it’s first weekend at the box office, against all expectations. The cast of this sequel includes the beloved Hollywood actor who turned 55 today, even if it seems he still doesn't want to age at all.

Yes, we are really talking about Paul Rudd.

So here is a list of some must-see films from his 30-year career.

The first is what was actually his film debut:

Clueless (1995): the iconic and funny 90’s romantic comedy starring Cher (Alicia Silverstone) with Paul Rudd playing half-brother Josh, with whom she will have a tangled story of love and hate.

Remaining in the rom-com genre, we can mention two lesser-known films: How Do You Know (2010) and Wanderlust (2012), in the company of great comedy stars such as Owen Wilson, Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston.

Just a year after his first film, another well-known film arrives: Romeo + Juliet by Baz Luhrman (director of Elvis, The Great Gatsby and Moulin Rouge).

In this film Paul is not the protagonist but plays Paris: a handsome but dorky guy who dances with Juliet at the Capulet ball. The situation is quite embarrassing as she famously kept looking at Romeo but he definitely played a memorable part in this Shakespeare adaptation.

Of course, the actor is not only known for films.  As a bonus, we have included the beloved show Friends which, if you’ve managed to not see it yet, is absolutely worth catching up on.

Paul Rudd famously made his debut in the sitcom during season 9 in the role of Phoebe's love interest: Mike Hannigan.

He was a loveable character who brought energy and excitement to the last season, like a breath of fresh air.

Moving on to the 2010s we have a comedy that marked the childhood of many Generation Z kids.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower (2012) is a sweet coming of age comedy that has moved almost everyone who has seen it. It accompanies young boys (Logan Lerman, Emma Watson and Ezra Miller among the protagonists) in their adolescence, between loves, school, parties and friendships.

Int the category of cute film that might make you shed a tear, we have: The Fundamentals of Caring (2016), which deals with topics such as friendship, family, love and disability.

In the cast we have Craig Roberts and Selena Gomez, who with Paul Rudd will form an unlikely trio to discover the world, trying to overcome past traumas together.

How can we not mention the Marvel cinematic universe. Paul Rudd has gained a lot of visibility thanks to his role as Scott Lang in Antman (2015) and in several other Marvel films, such as the latest Avengers: Endgame (2019) where we have the collective of characters accumulated in 3 cinematic phases. The end of an era and many narrative arcs, as well as, sadly, many characters. However we also see the beginning of a new generation of heroes, which is now developing in the next phases.

Finally, in addition to the last film of the Ghostbusters saga, we cannot fail to mention the previous one, released in 2021 and connected to the two now almost cult films. The director of Ghost Buster Afterlife is Jason Reitman, the son of the filmmaker who directed the first two of the 80s who decided to continue telling his father's story.

From Friends to Ghostbusters, Paul Rudd has consistently delivered his funny charm through the screen. Make sure to check out his latest role in theatres with Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire.
