Pharrell Williams Lego version: Piece by Piece

Piece by Piece, the Lego animated biopic about American rapper, singer and producer Pharrell Williams, will close this year’s BFI London Film Festival (LFF).

The 68th BFI LFF, taking place Oct. 9-20, will wrap up with the U.K. premiere of the journey through Williams’ life in a Lego-documentary format. Williams and Oscar-winning director Morgan Neville are set to attend the London festival’s closing night gala.

Alongside Williams, the movie stars Jay-Z, Kendrick Lamar, Missy Elliott, Gwen Stefani, Justin Timberlake, Busta Rhymes and Snoop Dogg. The film follows Williams from his humble beginnings in Virginia Beach through his early career as a producer of The Neptunes, on his way to becoming one of music’s most successful artists.

“The BFI London Film Festival has been supportive of my career for a long time, with my first time screening there being over 20 years ago,” said Neville. “Bringing Piece by Piece to the LFF means the world to me, and getting to be the closing night gala is the cherry on top of this huge honor. I’m thrilled to celebrate this film with the London audience.”

Piece by Piece will be released in U.S. theaters Oct. 11 and in the U.K. on Nov. 8.

The film will close the BFI London Film Festival, held in partnership with American Express, on Sunday, Oct. 20 at the Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall. The festival’s nine U.K.-wide partner venues will screen the film simultaneously.
