'Princess Diaries 3' will be directed by Malaysian filmmaker Adele Lim

It has been confirmed that the third movie in "The Princess Diaries" series will be directed by Malaysian filmmaker Adele Lim, renowned for her work on "Crazy Rich Asians."

As reported by The Star, the next installment was officially announced after Anne Hathaway, the American actress who played teenage princess Mia Thermopolis in the first two movies, revealed her comeback to the series in a video shared on her social media on October 5th.

Hathaway, dressed in a mustard-yellow sweater, playfully gestured the numbers one, two, and three with her fingers in the video clip, alluding to the two previous films and the forthcoming sequel. Additionally, the footage showed Hathaway and her co-star Julie Andrews, who portrayed Queen Clarisse Renaldi, Mia’s royal grandmother, joyfully exclaiming "Shut up!" as a tribute to one of the franchise's most memorable scenes.

Hathaway expressed her excitement by stating, "Miracles do occur," in the caption. She mentioned that she will be returning to Genovia with Adele Lim, Disney, and Somewhere Pictures, continuing the fairy tale. Deadline disclosed that this upcoming project will be Lim's second directorial venture, following her debut in the film "Joy Ride" last year.
