Quentin Tarantino is a renowned American filmmaker who has made several successful and critically acclaimed movies, including Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill, Django and Inglourious Basterds. However, he has announced that he plans to retire from filmmaking after his tenth movie, which will be titled "The Critic."
The plot details of "The Critic" have not been revealed. Nevertheless, the plot is expected to be set in the late 1970s, and the story is speculated to revolve around Pauline Kael, one of the most important film critics of all time. She was known for arguing with both editors and filmmakers. It is more likely that the film will focus on her due to Tarantinos' admiration for Kael, that passed away in 2001, despite his apparent disdain toward certain movie critics seen in prior interviews.
Even with his retirement announcement after this film's completion, he has also stated that he will continue to find other creative outlets, such as writing and publishing books.
