Revealed the List of Films Selected for the Quinzaine des Cinéastes, what to know about this category



As we all know, the Cannes Film Festival is a must-see event for all professionals but also for enthusiasts of the film world.

Since 1946, works from around the world have been presented on this occasion and the best films are awarded with the Palme d'Or, the Grand Prix, the Jury Prize, and many other accolades.


After the Official Competition, the Critics' Week and the Un Certain Regard selection, it's time to reveal the lineup of the Quinzaine des Cinéastes (previously known as Quinzaine des Réalisateurs), a parallel selection of films completely independent from the Festival that celebrates artistic diversity, which will be screened from May 15-25 during the Cannes Film Festival 2024.


The "Directors' Fortnight" is made by a community of filmmakers aiming to promote and bring to light free forms from different contexts, emphasizing the uniqueness of works that might not otherwise reach a wide audience.

This is the 56th edition of this independent film event that has over the decades helped to bring out new talents like Ken Loach and Spike Lee, who have since become highly acclaimed and famous directors.


This year, 30 unique films are presented, bold and innovative works, each representing a spirit of resistance to dominant ideology, using a unique and personal language.

Furthermore, as usual, the 2024 selection of the Quinzaine des Cinéastes will also be screened in Paris at the Forum des Images, for all Parisians who want a preview and to get to know these works before their official release in international theaters.

On May 15, 2024, the Société des réalisatrices et réalisateurs de films (SRF) will award the Carrosse d'Or during the opening ceremony of the Directors' Fortnight to British filmmaker Andrea Arnold.



Recognized for her courage, delicacy and contrast, her exploration of the margins and the social through her brilliant works, the director will become the twenty-second winner of this prestigious award established in 2002, which celebrates and rewards a director for the audacity and quality of their films.
