Hold onto your chimichangas, because the one and only Ryan Reynolds is set to receive an award that's as funny as Deadpool's one-liners. He's the chosen one for the Robin Williams Legacy of Laughter Award!
At the 11th annual gala for "Bring Change to Mind," Glenn Close's mental health advocacy nonprofit, the charismatic Reynolds will be honored. This award pays tribute to the late, great Robin Williams, who battled depression and left a legacy of laughter behind. It's presented each year by Williams' own children, Zak, Zelda, and Cody.
Previous recipients? Oh, just Billy Crystal, Whoopi Goldberg, Ben Stiller, Melissa McCarthy, and Dan and Eugene Levy. Not too shabby, right? In an official statement, Glenn Close expressed her excitement, saying, "I am looking forward to a spectacular evening and am grateful for the generosity of my fellow artists who will gather to honor Ryan Reynolds and to inspire what I hope will be a record-breaking evening to sustain and create vital Bring Change to Mind Clubs throughout this country."
Mark your calendars for October 9, because that's when this star-studded event goes down in the Big Apple. What's on the menu, you ask? Well, there will be performances by Reba McEntire and Amy Schumer, and an auction featuring goodies like a Taylor Swift-signed guitar. Fun fact: Taylor's a close friend of Ryan and his wife, Blake Lively, who even directed one of Swift's music videos. It's a laughter-filled evening for a great cause!
