According to the Hollywood Reporter, Samara Weaving and Radio Silence are teaming up once again.
The actress and the filmmaking group, consisting of Matt Bettinelli-Olpin, Tyler Gillett, and Chad Villella, are joining forces to create Ready or Not 2, the follow-up to their successful 2019 dark comedy horror film, for Searchlight Pictures.
Authored by Guy Busick and R. Christopher Murphy, the film narrated the story of a bride, portrayed by Weaving, who discovers her new family's wedding night tradition: Selecting a card from a puzzle card game. Upon drawing the Hide and Seek card, like she does, a deadly game ensues, as part of a longstanding agreement with the devil made by the family.
Ready or Not was produced with a budget of just $6 million, yet it managed to earn over $28 million in the domestic box office, becoming Searchlight's most widely released film at the time. The movie received positive reviews from critics for its effective combination of suspense, thrills, and social commentary. Its popularity and financial success have been steadily increasing in the home entertainment sector.
The movie also played a crucial role in boosting the careers of Weaving and the filmmakers. Radio Silence made a successful move into the horror genre, revitalizing the Scream franchise with the films Scream in 2022 and Scream VI in 2023. Additionally, they explored the realm of vampire ballerinas in Abigail, a project that Universal introduced earlier this year.
