Your favorite rabbit police officer and fox con artist duo are back for more action!
In February 2024, it was officially announced and confirmed by Disney that “Zootopia” will be returning to theaters with a new plot, new characters, and a mischievous reptile.
In an interview with Good Morning America, Jared Bush, the director of the film, publicizes, "So the idea that we'd get to go back and explore more was always something that we really wanted to do,” referencing “Zootopia” as a large world with various realms for exploration. This may be hinting that we’re jumping into a completely new experience from the original movie, only putting us further onto the edge of our seats.
Ke Huy Quan, who has notably played in movies “Kung Fu Panda 4” and “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom”, will be joining Ginnifer Goodwin and Jason Bateman in Zootopia 2. Quan voice acts the main antagonist, a snake, whose goal is to ruin Zootopia.
The film is currently set to be released in theaters on November 26, 2025. With its initial massive success coupled with the already-revealed details, it’s safe to say that viewers should expect an exciting and thrilling sequel to the original.
What is the plot of Zootopia 2?
Since the announcement of the film is relatively recent, there is not a lot of information on what the plot of the movie is about. However, Bush has given us some insight into the animals’ next adventure.
With Goodwin as Judy Hopps and Bateman as Nick Wilde, the iconic rabbit and fox partnership will be challenged with exploring an unknown part of town as Gary, the snake, wreaks havoc on their city. This not only tests their ability to solve the case, but the strength of their friendship. As the release date approaches, more information on the storyline and characters will be released.
