A new trailer for Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film “Oppenheimer”, has recently been released by Universal Pictures. The movie is set to premiere globally on July 21, 2023.
The new teasers offer a closer look at the movie with the star-studded cast. The main character, J. Robert Oppenheimer, will be played by Cillian Murphy, who has earlier worked with the director on movies such as Inception and The Dark Knight. Joining Murphy will be actors like Emily Blunt, Robert Downey Jr., Matt Damon, Florence Pugh and Gary Oldman.
The plot of the movie “Oppenheimer” follows the legacy of J. Robert Oppenheimer, who is known as the inventor of the atomic bomb. The movie is based on the biographical novel “American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer”. Just like the novel, the film follows the physicist alongside his team of government scientists working on developing nuclear weapons in the early 1940s.
The movie will also show how Murphy’s Oppenheimer battles the moral dilemma involved in the development of the deadly weapon that was somewhat responsible for ending World War Two, but also, as is stated in the trailer, “gave them [humanity] the power to destroy themselves”.
Christopher Nolan’s movies are known for plenty of things, including their amazing soundtracks. Earlier, the director has worked with composers such as Hans Zimmer, who composed the music for Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, Inception, The Dark Knight Rises, Interstellar and Dunkirk. Nolan and Zimmer have worked together multiple times however, Zimmer will not compose the music for “Oppenheimer”. The original music for this film will be composed by the Swedish composer Ludwig Göransson.
Matt Damon confirmed that “Oppenheimer” will be 3 hours long. The movie was shot using IMAX cameras to ensure that it would provide the audience with the theatrical spectacle that Nolan’s films are known for. That the director wanted “Oppenheimer” to be an experience fit for cinema viewing was also a reason for his public “break-up" with Warner Bros. This is because Warner Bros usually does a day-and-date release strategy for theatres and streaming service MAX (earlier known as HBO MAX).
This movie will surely be something new for the director since “Oppenheimer” is based on the life of a real person, unlike his previous movies like Inception and Interstellar. Nonetheless, Nolan is known for bringing amazing, mind-blowing work to the cinemas. This film will surely have movie theatres crowded and be an experience worth remembering.
