The Phantom Menace makes a return to Cinemas!

To celebrate the 25 years of the Star Wars Prequels, on the 3rd of May 2024, Star Wars: The Phantom Menace makes a return to cinemas.

The film which follows the journey of Qui Gon Jinn played by Liam Neeson and Obi Wan Kenobi (Ewan Mcgreggor) who find a young force sensitive child in Anakin Skywalker. Who will later become the greatest Jedi galaxy has ever seen.

The announcement comes after an interview with Empire where the cast speak about their time on the prequels.

For Ewan McGregor, the pressure of playing the young Obi-Wan Kenobi was made easier by working alongside actor Liam Neeson. Whose character has a noble end towards the end of the film.

“There are moments in any script that become like little pinnacles, that there’s an expectation that you hit emotionally. And that was one of them,” McGregor tells Empire now of the scene. “I was so fond of Liam [Neeson]. He’s such a generous and wonderful man — playing it was super-easy, because he was right in the moment with me, and I was in there with him.”

Liam Neeson and Ewan McGreggor look back on the reception that the prequels received and in particular the character of Jar Jar Binks.

“Myself and Ewan were personally hurt and offended by the critical reaction to the character.”

Hayden Christensen who played an older version of Anakin Skywalker talks about his experience with the prequel films  “I think that those movies have held up well over time.”

“My journey with the character and with Star Wars has at times been a bumpy one... but I’m in a good place with it now. And so that’s why I say patience.”

What did you think about the prequel films?, and will you be there in cinemas on May 3rd?
