“The Witcher” prequel is in the making!

Netflix has just released the second season of “The Witcher”, but we already have more exciting news! The streaming colossal announced a sex-episodes long prequel for its fantasy series titled “The Witcher: Blood Origin”.

The prequel will follow the story of the first-ever Witcher and how monsters, magical creatures and men manage to live in the same world. In particular, we will tag along a trio of characters: Éile (played by Sophia Brown) who leaves her position as the queen’s protector to wander the world as a singer; Fjall (played by Laurence O’Fuarain), a warrior who joins Éile in her quest; and Scian (played by Michelle Yeoh), an elf who's in search of a sacred sword. During their wanderings and missions, they will have to face several dangers.

Declan de Barra, writer of “The Witcher”, will serve as showrunner for the upcoming spinoff as well as executive producer alongside “The Witcher”’s showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich.

There is no release date yet for “The Witcher: Blood Origin”; in the meantime, you can stream “The Witcher” season 2 on Netflix.
