There are plans for Martin Lawrence to make a comeback in Blue Streak 2

According to Deadline, Martin Lawrence, who starred in the crime comedy Blue Streak 25 years ago, is confirmed to reprise his role in Blue Streak 2, which is currently in the development phase.

Blue Streak starred Lawrence as Miles Logan, a skilled jewel thief double-crossed by a member of his team. Before being arrested, he hides a valuable diamond in a building under construction. After his release from prison, Logan learns that the building is now a police station. In order to retrieve the diamond, he assumes the role of a police officer and is unexpectedly paired with a genuine cop, portrayed by Luke Wilson, complicating his mission.

This movie is considered one of Lawrence's most successful films to date. This achievement follows his return as Detective Marcus Burnett in the Bad Boys franchise, starring alongside Will Smith. The latest installment, Bad Boys: Ride or Die, was released this summer and enjoyed a highly successful box office performance, despite having a budget of $100 million.

Cole Maliska, known for his work on Chicago P.D., will write Blue Streak 2, while Lawrence will produce it under his company Run Tel Dat. Sony Pictures will be in charge of the sequel, as they were for the original film, although a director has not been selected at this time.
