We’ve all seen it, we’ve all heard it: Top Gun: Maverick is a hit. The sequel to the iconic 1986 blockbuster starring the never-aging Tom Cruise, new America's sweetheart Miles Teller and the lovely Jennifer Connelly was intended to be a success, but nobody has predicted THIS success.
After the projection in Cannes, which created hype all over the world, the first weekend was nothing short of surprising: in the first ten days from its release, the movie has earned an estimated $295.6 million in North America and $261.6 million in a global total of $557.2 million.
It is already Tom Cruise’s most successful film of his career, passing up War of the Worlds ($243.3 million) and Mission: Impossible — Fallout ($220.2 million). Worldwide, the movie is destined to gross north of $900 million globally and possibly hit the $1B milestone, joining masterpieces like Avengers: Endgame, Titanic, and Avatar.
