“Twisters”, the highly anticipated sequel to the 1996 classic “Twister”, hit theaters earlier this year and brought a fresh storm of action-packed spectacle to the big screen. Directed by Lee Isaac Chung, the film revisited the heart-pounding chase of deadly tornadoes, this time with updated visual effects and a new generation of storm chasers.
The film follows the story of a young retired storm chaser, Kate (Daisy Edgar-Jones), who gets roped into returning to Oklahoma to work with a new team with new technologies where she meets thrill-seeking meteorologist, Will (Glen Powell). Together, they track a series of twisters wreaking havoc across the Midwest. The film captured the high tension and awe of confronting nature’s fury, while also exploring deeper themes like legacy, survival, and the emotional toll of risking everything in the name of science.
One of Twisters' greatest strengths was its stunning visual effects, the tornadoes were rendered with incredible realism, each storm more terrifying than the last. The action sequences were fast-paced, and the destruction caused by the twisters kept viewers on the edge of their seats. However, the film stuck close to the original’s formula, leaving little room for narrative surprises.
Overall, “Twisters” provided a thrilling ride for fans of disaster films and paid tribute to the original while offering a visually immersive experience.
