Matthew Perry’s untimely passing in 2023 sent shockwaves through Hollywood and his global fanbase, but the revelations that followed in the ensuing investigation only deepened the mystery. Now, a new one-hour documentary, Matthew Perry: A Hollywood Tragedy, aims to unpack the circumstances surrounding the beloved Friends star’s tragic end. Set to premiere on February 25, 2025, exclusively on Peacock, the documentary features compelling interviews with key figures connected to Perry’s life and final days. Among them is actress Morgan Fairchild, who played his mother in Friends, and former LAPD detective Greg Kading, who provides critical analysis of the investigation. However, notably absent from the lineup are Perry’s closest Friends co-stars—Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Jennifer Aniston, David Schwimmer, and Matt LeBlanc—whose silence on the project has sparked speculation among fans.

About a year before his passing, Perry published his memoir, Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing, in which he openly shared his battle with addiction. Perhaps the most chilling aspect of Perry’s case is the legal fallout, as authorities have now charged five individuals in connection with his death. Among them are his assistant, Kenneth Iwamasa, as well as Mark Chavez, Salvadore Plasencia, Erik Fleming, and the notorious Jasveen Sangha—dubbed the “Ketamine Queen.” As the legal battle unfolds, Matthew Perry: A Hollywood Tragedy is set to dive deep into the dark realities of substance abuse, fame, and the pressures that come with being a Hollywood icon.
