2009 and 2011 were the years when Sherlock Holmes with Robert Downey Jr. premiered. There have been a lot of talks regarding number 3 in order but what we do know is that the pandemic halted Sherlock Holmes very much.
The director for the new Sherlock, Dexter Fletcher (Rocketman) still believes Sherlock Holmes 3 will be made but the pandemic halted the shootings for the movie that is standing still at the moment. Guy Ritchie directed the first two movies but in 2019 it became official that Dexter Fletcher would direct Sherlock Holmes 3. Already halted a lot of times the idea was for the movie to premiere at the end of 2021 but the pandemic halted that too. As of today it is very unclear when production will be able to start but director Fletcher assures the movie is not forgotten.
