What the new “Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes” trailer shows about the movie

At CinemaCon Lionsgate finally released the official trailer for “The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes”. The movie will be the prequel of the beloved Hunger Games trilogy and is set to premiere on November 17, 2023.

The movie is directed by Francis Lawrence, who also directed the previous Hunger Games films. However, since this movie plays out long before the story of Katniss Everdeen in the Hunger Games, the cast will consist of new faces such as Tom Blyth (Coriolanus Snow), Rachel Zegler (Lucy Gray Baird), Hunter Schafer (Tigris Snow), Viola Davis (Dr. Volumnia Gaul) and Peter Dinklage (Casca Highbottom).

The prequel is based on Suzanne Collins’ novel “Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes”. The story takes place 64 years before the 74th Hunger Games, which began the adventures of Katniss Everdeen. It will surround the story of the 18-year-old Coriolanus Snow who is President Snow in the trilogy with Katniss Everdeen. In the prequel he is chosen to be a mentor for the tribute from district 12, Lucy Gray Baird. She is a girl with high morals which is shown in the trailer where she says: “There’s natural goodness built into us all. We can step across that line into evil, or not.”

In the end of the trailer, you can hear a line told by President Snow (Donald Sutherland) in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1, that goes “It’s the things we love most, that destroy us”. This movie will make viewers understand why and how the young boy Coriolanus Snow, turned into the tyrant leader that President Snow was.
