The film adaptation of the popular Broadway musical in which Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo take part will be released soon.
The director Jon M.Chu has announced that the movie will hit theaters on November 22, instead of November 27. The new date will favor word of mouth thanks to the holiday season (Thanksgiving), allowing the movie to generate buzz. “Wicked” will be the first installment of a two-part release as “Wicked: Part Two” is scheduled to hit theaters on November 26, 2025, the day before Thanksgiving that year.
The movie, however, will compete against Paramount’s Gladiator II, which also hits on November 22, and it is co-produced by Ridley Scott. “Wicked” is an adaptation of the Tony-winning Broadway musical. The story features characters created by L. Frank Baum in his 1900 book, “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz”, and widely known then through the 1939 film adaption, “The Wizard of Oz,” which also won an Oscar.
Which role will Ariana Grande play?
She will play Glinda while Cynthia Erivo will be Elphaba. Some other figures will be Michelle Yeoh, Jonathan Bailey, Ethan Slater, Jeff Goldblum and Bowen Yang. Marc Platt and David Stone will be the producers.
The director Chu declared, “A magical land of sights and sounds that will astonish, and performances that will lift your spirits and occasionally break your heart.”
